Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice 2019

Wednesday 19th June was a beautiful day. Blue blue sky and sea with hardly a breath of wind.

The last week or so have been really busy and a bit demanding so I decided to go down to Cape and sit quietly and enjoy the peace.
It was beautiful.

It was so warm I dangled my legs in the little sea-water swimming pool and it wasn't too cold. I'd picked up a takeaway coffee and orange polenta cake fro Little Wonder Cafe so was well provisioned, sitting totally peaceful.

Such a pass-time is so good for the soul...
a little voice said "why don't you do this more often?"

And why not I thought?

So the summer solstice arrived on Friday and I thought what a good beginning it would be to come down and swim...if I was brave enough?

I put my swimming stuff on and headed down...picking up another coffee... saying I might paddle a bit deeper and see how it was...

... and it wasn't too cold, so I swam!

Not for long I hasten to add, but it felt good and it wasn't cold enough to take your breath away. I thought how Mum would have loved it.

It was warm enough and sheltered from the wind so I could dry off in the sun, not feeling cold at all.

The next day would normally be a golf playing day but because of having done so much lately I just went to help, driving round the course in a buggy marking a team's card. It was sunny, but chilly though it got warmer later in the day.

You can see how beautiful the colours were on the course and after a committee meeting I headed home... but nagging in my head was how nice it would be to go for another swim!
So I headed back with my cosie... the pool had warmed up in the sun so I stayed in much longer.

And so to today - Sunday. Rain and blustery wind made going out uninviting.... but just before lunch I headed out for a swim in the rain... remembering how we used to do that with Mum sometimes at Gyllyngvase.

The rain had made the boulders look polished,

but the water was much cooler so it was a quick dip today.

What a lovely few days it has been.
