Weds 3rd March

 March 3rd

Yesterday and today we have had weird weather. It has been hazy - almost like a summer heat haze with a bit of mist thrown in!

Fields have been planted with potatoes I think which adds to the strangeness.
As i walked down towards Cot I spotted these two new-borns - tiny.

Heading down the valley the haze cleared a little and there was blue sky. The early morning rain and low sun gave wonderful depth to the colours.

The path was very muddy in places but there was hardly a breath of wind.

At the top - there was blue sea one side and a strange atmosphere looking the other way.

Very strange.

It had been similar yesterday but there was a biting easterly wind and glorious sea colours.

You can see the haziness. This afternoon the wind has shifted right round to a westerly and some of the haziness has gone.

The garlic is beginning to show and I added some to my lunch!

Looking back over the last week we had some absolutely beautiful weather and more wind.

This time last week the waves were still quite big

but the primroses that usually abound down this path were few and far between, perhaps they'll be coming later.
The camellias have been beautiful this year - this one's a bit special as it has both red, white and stripy flowers!

Several days of sunshine followed - I'd usually go for a walk first thing then come home for breakfast.
It was warm enough to sit on the patio and enjoy the sun.
Friday was so lovely I even paddled in the pool at Priest's Cove!

It was a beautiful day! Next time I should take a towel and paddle for longer!

In the afternoon I made some tea-cakes - I'm really enjoying the bread making at the moment. I freeze at least half of it and then can use it up over the week.

There was a glorious sunset too.

Saturday was my non-walk day and there was cross country skiing and rugby to watch.
Sunday was another glorious day though a warm coat was necessary!
After our family zoom I met up with Leanne and Demelza the dog and we had a walk on the course and we talked about their plans.
Hopefully golf will restart at the end of March but their accommodation will remain closed for quite a while yet.
Difficult times for them but they seem to be managing ok.

  1. We're still enjoying your walks etc, and the signs of spring
